The Mini Vette: 1965 Volkswagen Beetle Dune Buggy

The Volkswagen Beetle was produced in such huge numbers that used versions became almost free back in the 1960s and hot rodders did what hot rodders do. At certain angles this next example is almost too pretty to be called a dune buggy, but from the side you can see the giant fender gap and exhaust pipe rear bumper that confirms this is indeed a buggy. THIS IS A RARE CUSTOM MINI VETTE DUNE BUGGY. THEY WERE MANUFACTORED BY CENTURY CARS CORPORATION IN PAOLI PENNSYLVANIA IN VERY LIMITED NUMBERS IN THE 80’S. I WAS TOLD LESS THAN 200 WERE MADE. THE BUGGY WAS COMPLETELY RESTORED ABOUT 5 YEARS AGO ( SEE PHOTOS). IT HAS BEEN REGULARLY DRIVEN WITH 836 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. HERE IS THE SPECIFICATION:

ENGINE: REBUILT 1600cc MODIFIED: PERFORMANCE CAMSHAFT (W110), 88mm PISTONS/CYLINDERS,, HEAVY DUTY OIL PUMP, FOR GREATER FLOW & PRESSURE, 1.5 QT. DEEP SUMP KIT FOR MORE OIL VOLUME, ALUMINUM BOLT ON VALVE COVERS, DUAL HEADER SYSTEM, ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP, MSD-6AL IGNITION SYSTEM. THE ENGINE DOES NOT SMOKE AND HAS ABOUT 40 psi OIL PRESSURE. THERE ARE COUPLE OF DROPS OF OIL WHEN PARKED FOR A LONG PERIOD.

THIS DUNE BUGGY STARTS, IDLES, RUNS, DRIVES, AND STOPS GREAT. IT IS VERY LOUD. ALL LIGHTS AND GAUGES WORK.
THIS DUNE BUGGY IS REGISTERED AS A 1965 VOLKSWAGEN. I HAVE A CLEAR TENNESSEE TITLE IN HAND. THE BUGGY HAS THE CORRECT AND ORIGINAL SERIAL NUMBER STAMPED ON THE TRANSAXLE TUNNEL THAT MATCHES WITH THE NUMBER ON THE TITLE.
