The Future of Volvo: 1993 Volvo 850GLT

The Volvo 850 was a significant departure from previous Volvo designs — particularly in the use of a transverse mounted inline-5 cylinder engine that drove the front wheels. Of course it was still a Volvo, so that meant it had boxy styling and a slew of advanced safety features (including side impact protection beams and self adjusting seat belts), but you could no longer give it the Scandinavian flick down the farm road at your grandma’s private road. Today’s model has a manual gearbox and is covered in a pleasant shade of blue-green, so it gets a thumbs up. Find this 1993 Volvo 850GLT offered for $3,500 in Anchorage, AK via craigslist. Only 106,555 miles on this Volvo! It’s been in my garage for quite a while. New battery and just renewed the tags. Everything works, really good condition especially considering the year. Stick shift! Fun to drive! Clean title.
