Spritzgebäck Colored: Mercedes-Benz 240D W115

They say you should never buy a car in the rain…(which is good advice because you can’t tell paint condition in the rain and the water noise masks potential issues on the test drive)…and this begs the question; should you buy a car with pictures taken during a wash? The answer is no, but that shouldn’t stop you from looking at that car in person and making an informed decision on the condition of a W115.. Personally I like the fact that this car has a 4-speed gearbox and I don’t mind the blingy wheels or the lowered suspension. I owned a W115 240D for about a year until an older friend fell deeply in love with it and offered me more than I could turn down. It was mint condition burnt orange with stick shift, looked and drove mint circa 2002. I truly miss it despite it being the slowest car I’ve ever owned.
As I’m a contradictory person, I managed to get a speeding ticket in it almost immediately after buying it. You know how it is when you own a sloooow car and you hate to brake going down a hill because you know you’ll barely make it up the next one … and then ticked for 12mph over. Boooo.
I only see the wheels. Like sunglasses on a dog.
God yes these are slow, drove one cross country once. The Rockies were interesting.
So, uhm, who rebuilds the motor on one of these? I hate to be obvious but isn’t that a great time to swap in a small block chevy?
A very brief description, and 3 photos, all of which were taken immediately following a wash. In the words of American Idol’s Randy Jackson: “Yeah, that’s gonna be a ‘no’ for me, dawg”.
Byatches get back,………..does it have hydraulics?
