Sport Compact: 2000 Honda Civic EX Coupe

This next car comes as a tip from David in Tampa who writes: The very last of the Soichiro Honda cars at a price so low I can’t believe I’m sharing the post with you instead of buying it. Maybe it’s haunted … or radioactive? Maybe the typical used car driver doesn’t know how sweet these late model Civics can be to drive on a day-to-day basis? Find this 2000 Honda Civic EX Coupe offered for $5,000 in Tampa, FL via fazebook makeitpeace.

In retrospect, I should’ve bought this and sold our Abarth. I wasn’t paying attention that this was the higher spec EX, though even an unmolested base model Civic in this condition at this price is an absolute rarity too.
I bought an ’00 Insight in Citron Green two decades ago but lingered over the Civic Si at the dealer before making my poor choice. I’m still biased for the Si badge despite no longer driving my cars like I stole them.
2000 model year. Right square in the middle of the golden era of daily drivers. (And insert here the requisite “Too bad it’s not a manual” comment)
It was a manual, as seen in the photos. I must’ve had rocks in my head for letting that one get away.
I must have been asleep when I wrote that comment. Or they changed the photos. Or something is just wrong with me. Probably the last one.
Dang, I don’t log on for a couple of days and I miss a car I would have bought in a heartbeat right here in Town!
When dating my wife at the time, she rolls up in a ’96 Civic EX coupe just like this but in dark green. Manual…. A really fun car. And at the time I had the ‘soccer mom’ 99 Honda CRV (for snowboarding w/ my deviant friends)…
