Small V6 Project: 1993 Mazda MX-3 GS

The Mazda MX-3 was Mazda’s attempt at a small 2+2 coupé for the early ’90s, using the company’s EC platform and a swoopy kammback body. Mazda offered the car with a variety of engines, but the GS trim was notable for its 1.8-liter K8 V6 — one of the smallest displacement six-cylinder engines ever fitted to a production car — which delivered a smooth, balanced power delivery and helped set the MX-3 apart. Underneath, the MX-3 used Mazda’s twin-trapezoidal link rear suspension and a Variable Resonance Induction System to eke out extra performance. This and the previously posted Ford probe both share the Mazda K engine architecture. This has the K8, the probe has the KL.
I think they are more or less the same externally, except for bore and stroke both bigger on the KL
