Small Car, Small Price Tag: 1965 MG MGB

This next car is an early MGB offered in a nice color with a decent amount of patina and character…but a sporty asking price. Not sporty in a bad way, but sporty in a GOOD way. I think it looks like a winner to me for cash. Find this 1965 MG MGB offered for $6,500 in Denver, CO via craigslist. Tip from CP.

more ads by this userTime to let my MGB go. I’m the 3rd owner, car was purchased new in High Point, NC, sold in 1971 to a gentleman in Lexington, NC. I purchased a few years back as a barn find and it’s a good driver now. Lots of character, and there just are not many of the Mark 1 cars on the road now.
The only rust on this vehicle was in a battery tray, and that’s been repaired. The paint is original and it looks 57 years old. They’re only original once. This is a good, honest little car you can stick a magnet to anyplace except the aluminum bonnet.
Mechanically, car is all dialed in. Engine is rebuilt, carbs have been properly set up, brakes are done, suspension is done, it has 5 new Firestones and a new wiring harness. The seat covers are genuine leather from Moss Motors. Seth Lehman at Elite Auto Restoration in Denver knows this car and did a ton of work on it.

New windshield, new top, new steering wheel, has a moss motors carpet kit that comes with it and all the stuff to make new door panels. New chrome body side moldings also come with it. Headlights and tail lights converted to LED. The horn and wipers even work!
I have a lot more in this gem than my asking price. Please don’t try to compare my car to a 1968 or later, they’re not the same. The Mk 1 is a metal dash car and a rare find.
Thanks for looking! Cash only, if the ad is still up the car is available.

I love this. This would be a hit at cars & coffee without spending the rest of the week detailing it!

i dont know these cars. what is the plumbed in thing in front of the radiator… oil cooler? is this original to the car?
That is indeed an oil cooler. Looking at an MGB forum, there is some debate as to whether one is needed.
Someone better buy this quick. If those SUs are actually dialed in, you only have about 1 hour of driving time before they are not dialed in and take 2 years to dial back in again.
What a deal!
Of course, if it is perfectly set up for Denver it’s going to need to be retuned when you get it home.
I don’t know if I have ever seen an MGB in the wild with those wheels. Maybe put the side spears back on but other than that leave it.
Checking to see if this was still for sale and noticed that this is in 902 foot high
Denver North Carolina not mile high Denver Colorado, so never mind about the mile high jets.
I was sort of wondering how an NC car was known to a guy at a restoration firm in Denver (CO)…
Never heard of Denver, NC.
