Seller Submission: 1985.5 Porsche 944
This next car comes as a seller submission from DT regular Michael who writes: My son is selling his 1985.5 Porsche 944. This car has a sunroof, extra snow tires, original wheels, and of course the Fun Pedal. This is a wonderful driver’s car in reasonably good condition inside and out. Before we purchased the car last August the previous owner put about $5,000 into the car in maintenance items including all of the important stuff. We have those receipts in hand. That work was all done by a local Porsche-specific shop. My son and I also replaced the front control arm ball joints using the Pelican Parts kit. This car is way more fun to drive than it really has any business being. While we have enjoyed owning this car the boy can’t afford any more traffic tickets. Find this 1985.5 Porsche 944 offered for $6,500 in Mahtomedi, WI via craigslist.

Looking to sell my 1985.5 Porsche 944 5-speed. The car is in very good condition, with the exception of a few rock chips that are to be expected from a 33 year old car. There is no rust whatsoever as the car was only driven for one winter, and was washed frequently. The car currently sits on new, nitrogen filled snow tires. All maintenance and engine work was done at Auto Edge in Mahtomedi MN, with the exception of the ball joints and sway bar bushings. Right now the odometer sits at 114,479 miles, and in the last 5,000 miles the following work has been done:
-Timing Belt, Balance shaft belt new water pump with update, includes new thermostat, all new drive belts coolant flush- $2,200
-Front engine reseal- $650
-Oil cooler reseal- $525
-Cam carrier reseal- $390
-Full tune with ignition cables and spark plugs- $475
-Clutch adjustment- $80
-Brake fluid flush- $145
-A/C conversion to R134a with charge- $385
-New Pirelli P Zero tires- $700
-K&N air filter- $75
-Front lower ball joints- $210
-Sway bar bushings- $15
-Goodyear Ultragrip winter tires- $400
-Alignment- $80
All the work done comes to a total of $6,330 and I have receipts for everything.
Cons:
-The drivers side door lock only operates when the door is closed
-An issue with the sunroof relay means that it cannot currently be opened with the motor
I will only be accepting cash for payment.
Thanks for looking!

Mahtomedi is a spoiled-Rich-kid town in MN.
Great scene in the movie Hot Shots when Charlie Sheene’s character visits an Indian medicine man for advice. The advice in pseudo-Indian was a string of Minnesota town names, “mahtomedi Owatonna Minnetonka.”
