Second Edition: 1989 Volkswagen Golf GTI MkII
The Volkswagen Golf was a huge sales success for Volkswagen in the ’80s & ’90s because it combined family car capabilities with a light and nimble chassis. The hopped up GTI version was the one to get, with a powerful engine, Recaro seats, and some GTI-specific road hugging suspension. The MkII version night not be as iconic and OG as the original, but like every new generation of Golf it was just a bit nicer and more liveable for daily commuting. Today’s example isn’t some perfect trailer queen, but it does offer a decent amount of that grand touring injection that is much needed in your life. 1989 VW MK2 GTI 16V (Small Bumper — CIS injection)
Recently purchased an MK5 so I need to get rid of this beauty before school starts again. The car was purchased from a mechanic who had experience with MK2’s.
I have owned the car for about two years; over those two years, I have done a ton of maintenance some of which will be listed below.
– Solowerks Coilovers
– New control arms with polyurethane bushings
– Recaro Powered Seats from a GLI
– Aftermarket Pioneer head unit with upgraded speakers
– New headlights
– New Sachs Clutch Kit + transmission seals (done in late June of 2019)
– New clutch cable
– New power steering rack
– New Catalytic Converter + O2 sensors
– New radiator + replaced all engine bay rubber hoses
– Valve cover gasket
– New NGK triple ground spark plugs
The car is sitting on some random rims (tires have decent thread). I will also include the original 15” BBS RA’s with the car (had plans to get them refurbished).
Car has approximately 155k miles (odometer wasn’t working when I bought it @ 142k miles). The speedometer cable needs to be replaced to make the speedometer work again. Also, the car is missing the AC lines so there is no AC.
The car is not perfect, but it is a well maintained and cared for 16V! It runs and drives like a dream; turns heads wherever I go.
Best offer takes her home as I will be starting school in August. Feel free to call/text/email me for any questions.

This seems to be a good deal as long as there are no big surprises. The mild upgrades should make this a lot of fun to daily drive and take on backroads when it's play time.
For this price, and condition it looks like a great deal.
