Rat Rod Lincoln: 1949 Lincoln Cosmopolitan
The original version of Hot Rod Lincoln by Charlie Ryan was a good song in its own right, but it wasn’t until the 1971 cover by Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen that the V12 Lincoln got the true fame that it deserved. Sometimes, the remake is better than the original, and I just hope that holds true when the next owner decides to re-invent this classic. Find this 1949 Lincoln Cosmopolitan offered for $3,900 in Ft Myers, FL via craigslist. Tip from Dascpcu.
This old beast is described very succinctly by the seller as: 1949 Lincoln Hot Rod Rat Rod 8cyl
Runs $3900. Call Gino. More info would be nice, but it probably isn’t necessary.

Love me some Commander Cody cause I'm down to seeds and stems again…….too. How come Gino doesn't love the sled?
Lead Poisoning Powerful Stuff..
Whats not to like ? Rattle Snake door webbing 2 H20 pumps and 6 measly volts…..What…a….Dreamboat….
The car is a V8, the car from the song was a V8… where does V12 come into the equation? What am I missing?
the original was by charlie ryan and the ACTUAL car has 12 cylinders also the ORIGINAL song says v12
The V-12 was offered from 1932 to 1948 in the Lincoln. This one's a 1949 V-8. That was a great year to be born.
I was talking about the Original Song By Charlie Ryan not this car being a V-12 i knew the 49 above was a V-8 so some history on the song anyway, that was new to me also.
I'd argue Bill Kirchen's live version is the best Hot Rod Lincoln.
I'd say Larry Groce's version of Hot Rod Lincoln is the best. And while you are at it, go listen to Junk Food Junkie…hilarious material right there.
I prefer the Hammer of the Honky Tonk Gods over Dr. Demento.
I'd never heard Kirchen's version before. The last 1/2 was like an extended version of Martin Mull's "Licks off of Records".
