Porsche Power: 1975 Meyers Manx SR2

This next car might look like a Temu version of a Toyota Sera, but it is the SR version of the old skool Meyers Manx. The “Street Roadster” version used a VW Beetle floor pan and your favorite powerplant under a futuristic (for 1970) body. A Porsche flat-6 (out of a vintage 911) powers today’s Manx SR2 and the roadster could look good with some non-hideous wheels. Find this 1975 Meyers Manx SR2 offered for $35000 in Yorba Linda, CA via freebird bookmanx.

Wait. So you can now pay MORE for an old kit car with a 911 engine than a real 911?
(I just looked at Auto Trader, there are plenty 911s near me under $40K).
What is this seller smoking?
-Stan (who is impressed by the cosmetics of this build…but still knows kit cars need to be completely gone through. Well, only if you want to actually drive them…)
Where do you live? Are you sure these 911s haven’t been in seawater?
Just the engine for a 70s 911 is over 10k around here.
This looked so much nicer before someone hacked it up, and getting the slightest nudge in the rear parking lot this would break the crank and the case.
I can’t imagine using a 911 instead of a Corvair engine if I really wanted an ill handing short wheelbase VW.
There’s a lot of Porsches under 40K, there’s a bunch under 30K! They are all Cabriolet convertibles. Man, they are cheap!

Seems to be a disconnect here. Are y’all finding actual running air cooled 911s in the $30-$40k range, or are they all 996/997s?
