Plus Plus Plus: 1970 Triumph GT6+

The Triumph GT6 was a fastback 2+2 version of the diminutive Spitfire convertible, but it got the bigger overhead valve inline-6 from the TR6 and a Giovanni Michelotti designed roof. It was once the one of the undervalued heroes of the classic sports car world and offers a good combination of exotic looks, minimized weight, “big” engine, and low seating position in a classic 2-seat fastback shape…however today’s GT6+ has taken the “BIG” engine to a new extreme and I think I’m in love. Find this 1970 Triumph GT6+ offered for $25,000 in Greenfield, IN via facemelting morkandmindyplace.

One of the many vehicles acquired but not used for “Madmax : Fury Road” due to being too cartoonish to be believed. 🙂
What I never understood about the whole Mad Max thing is that resources are limited but everyone has a supercharged maniac machine. Where are you getting the gas to drive at 3mpg in this hellscape? Those Honda bicycle/mopeds make more sense.
On another note I’ve seen one of the 3 original Mad Max cars in person. A guy I used to work with bought it and parades it around. He was really excited to explain the supercharger on/off trick they used in the movie. Can’t remember the explanation though.
Probably an air conditioner clutch on the pulley, and a gutted blower.
Minor pedantic note – the GT6 was simply the 6cyl, fastback coupe grown-up sibling of the Spitfire. No 2+2 back seats for amputees.
Not quite correct. A back seat was offered.

I take it all back. Amputees welcome!
“Never raced”
I suspect that if you take this to the track and want to race the short response is “nope” and the long response is “hell no”
If this was driven on the streets where I live (Southern California) it would be pulled over by the police within the first 10 minutes.
After driving my turbo Miata project around here with no bumpers and hood past several cops I’m pretty sure I could get away with this here in Texas.
Them corn fed boys in Indiana got some weird ideas
