Pirate’s Treasure: 2004 Mercury Marauder

This next car would easily be mistaken for a Ford Crown Victoria…which makes sense because the Mercury Grand Marquis is a rebadged Crown Vic…except this isn’t a Grand Marquis. This is the Marauder…which starts with a Grand Marquis body and adds a 302 horsepower 4.6 liter DOHC V8 from the Mustang Mach 1, a full compliment of P71 Police Interceptor shocks/brakes, unique Marauder bumpers, no chrome, and smoke headlights/taillights. It was like the guys from Pimp my Ride took over the Mercury design department for a week and I love it. I miss Mercury. Find this 2004 Mercury Marauder offered for $5,750 in Newington, CT via craigslist. Tip from Cory.

Get an amazing ride – the last of the 4-door full sized sports cars!!!

Makes the Crown Vics look and drive like a dog.

4.6L 32 valve dual overhead cam Engine that pulls harder the higher it revs.
Sits comfortably at its max governed speed of 126 mph on the highway. But can be reprogrammed for higher, though I never did.

I’ve owned this car for a long time, and it’s still a blast to drive. But I need to sell it.

155k miles with me, and it’s the 2004 “B” model with the updated transmission. In good condition- but it is a 17 year old car that has some small body imperfections, but engine and transmission are running strong.

Has always been serviced by myself since I never trusted anyone else to touch my baby. Mobil 1 or Rotella T6 oil changes for life.
Flushed tranny at 120k.

Rare (about 800 ever made) painted in the Dark Tudor Red factory color. Will be a collector’s car due to this.

6 CD player factory option. Black leather interior.

Including a full set of steel rimmed snow tires – drives great in the snow with the full mechanical posi and computer traction control as well.

Disclosed deficiency:
1) HIVAC Air temperature control motor intermittent. Will provide a new part – see Utube for install (same as a Crown Victoria)

2) Center Armrest needs recovering. Easily done at a shop or by qualified person.

The Marauders are amazing cars to own and drive. The exhaust tone alone is so amazing and perfect that it puts all the rice burners and kraut cars to shame. You can load a whole family in to it and still have room for luggage, and get there far faster than legally allowed.

You will get looks and comments where you drive this amazing car.
