Peak Personal Lux: 1988 Buick Riviera

The Buick Riviera T-Type is peak late-’80s personal luxury coupe: formal roofline, two-tone paint, turbine-ish wheels, and just enough “T-Type” badging to suggest Buick still had some bad ideas left in the performance department. Under the hood is the trusty 3800 V6, which means it should run long after the digital dashboard has started communicating only in riddles. This car has everything: weird (but somehow likable) exterior styling, crazy rad electronic dash, numerous duplicate ad photos, and hilarious town name. I feel like somebody’s grandpa on peyote owns this car.
Love the high-tech Graphic Control Center!
It’s a terrible idea but the price is certainly right and wish it was a little nearer. Classy 2 tone, decent looking paint, but guessing generally GM3.8L is generally strong (though probably need a few gaskets…)
Looked up Birds in Hand, and place of “Dutch Wonderland Family Amusement Park”
Epic trip across US???
I’ve been to Bird in Hand. It is not better than Two in the Bush.
LOL!!! So true!!!
Byrd390 is korrekt: between the rad styling and bonkers CRT dashboard, this is desirable.
Until recently I owned a ’91 Corvette and thought that my analog dash was somehow a step up from the C4’s earlier electronic Atari dashboard. Now I’m browsing older Corvette listings just for the rad-era dashes.
