Peak 90s Import: 1990 Honda CRX Si

This next car comes as a tip from JR who writes: The CRX is one of my favorites. The 90 & 91 model years were the only ones with rear disc brakes from the factory which makes this piece super cool. I also hear the cargo cover fetches a pretty penny. Combine that with the low mileage & you got yourself a winner in my book. Find this 1990 Honda CRX Si offered for $8,500 in Heritage, TX via craigslist.

A bargain by any metric. I just bought a ’93 300ZX with a thick binder of recent receipts from a friend for about the same $ and I’m uncertain which car would be the better deal. The Z’s original MSRP was $30k, the CRX Si was $11k and here we are decades later choosing between the two for the same price.
The CRX is probably worth more as they’ve all succumbed to poorly screwed on body kits, half-arse engine swaps, purple interiors, garbage Ebay coilovers ad infinitum. The expensive cars like the Z were likely to be coddled in a garage so there’s more of them and rarity equates to value.
Meanwhile, ogle at this $40,000 CRX Si:

Seller put a lot of effort into hiding the condition of the paint by shooting at low angles and with a short depth of focus. The paint is toast. When you look at the photos closely, you start spot things you missed at first glance. It seems like a good car though. I just don’t know if it’s worth the asking price. I’m guessing David got more bang for his buck on the 300ZX.
