Pace Car Special: 1975 Buick Century Free Spirit
On May 25th, 1975, A.J. Foyt lined up his Coyote 75 racer behind actor James Garner who drove a Buick Century the pace car at the Indy 500. When the checkered flag was waved, Foyt was beaten by Bobby Unser, but the Buick dealers around the country were the real winners because they got the Century Free Spirit pace car replica to offload on a hungry public. Find this 1975 Buick Century Free Spirit offered for $3,500 in Vermont. Tip from Jdah.
According to this older Hemmings listing, Buick only built about 400 of the Free Spirit editions, and this one appears to be a complete basket case. At least the price is low. Kojack approves of this…
Imagine the pantsuit you'd have to buy.
The deansgarage link has a Photo Of The Designer As A Young Man as one might say, checks all the '70s boxes, broccoli-floret hair, Soyuz-booster bell bottoms…
When I was about16 a guy in one of those chase a friend of mine about 30mi because something blew out of his he thought it was a coke can my friend thought he wanted to race the guy had to be physically restrained to keep him from my friend the we all looked at the car nothing not even a scratch we told it was awesome but we laughed at his rediculous ass and his slow ugly car
I have no idea what you just said, but you got me at "slow ugly car". I can't believe this thing was made, but it WAS 1975.
