Notta Mustang: 1993 Ford Probe Base

What a thrill it was for car enthusiasts everywhere when Ford decided to bless us with the Ford Probe, built on the Mazda GD/GE platform and designed by a legendary Greek aerodynamicist (John Paraskevopoulos). It was just what we always wanted, a car that looked like it could be a Mustang replacement, but without any of the power or handling that makes the Mustang so iconic. Of course, the geniuses at Ford initially planned to make the Probe the new Mustang, because who needs rear-wheel-drive and V8 power when you can have… well, nothing that exciting, really. But thankfully, the pleas of the rational people (and probably a few Mustang enthusiasts too) were heard, and the Probe was relegated to being a domestic alternative to cars like the Honda Prelude, Mitsubishi Eclipse, Toyota Celica, Volkswagen Corrado/Golf, and Nissan 200SX. Todays example is covered in an amazing shade of gangrene and looks better than it should. Find this 1993 Ford Probe offered for $5,999 buy-it-now on ebay in Chicago, IL.
