Miata Powered: 1972 Opel GT

The Opel GT was a compact sports car by GM’s European subsidiary Opel from 1965 to 1973. The little “poor man’s Vette” (a reference to its styling similarity with Chevrolet’s C3 Covette) was sold and maintained at Buick dealers in North America, an odd place to find a European transplant and undoubtedly part of the reason it was a sales failure. The GT was available with 1.1 or 1.9 liter inline-4 engines that offered a little bit of power/torque, but today’s GT is powered by a 1.6 liter Mazda engine. Seller’s Description
1972 Opel GT

Selling my 1972 Opel GT. This is a fun car that gets lots of attention. It has a 1.6 Miata engine and 5 speed transmission – work was done by previous owner.

I am selling because I have 3 other classics and rarely get to this one and don’t have room for it in the garage so it’s outside in the sun.

I have an extra set of wheels and tires that better fit the car that I’ll include.

Recently added new fuel pump and all new fuel lines.

Full transparency, the car looks great in the pics but as you get closer you’ll see that it isn’t perfect – and does have some rust issues underneath. But I think it’s priced fair for what it is.

This car isn’t for everyone but if you want something different and don’t mind tinkering with it now then it’s rare, sharp looking and super fun to drive around town!

Price is firm at $5,300
