Investment or Junk? 1995 Mercedes-Benz SL500

When I need to make a list of cars that are cheap today but will be expensive in the future, this next car is currently at the top of my list. I can’t believe that an SL Mercedes that cost almost $100k new a mere 27 years ago would be worth $5k today. Even with the scabby paint, this car is running/driving with only 74k miles and was murderously expensive new..AND not a bad looking car. Get ’em while they are cheap. Find this 1995 Mercedes-Benz SL500 offered for $5900 in Bakersfield, CA via craigslist.

From the seller:

1995 Mercedes Benz SL500
fuel: gas
odometer: 74800
title status: clean
transmission: automatic
Selling my 1995 Mercedes SL500. Only 74,800 miles. Carfax verified mileage. Carfax is in hand and shows most service history since new and I have a few thousand dollars of receipts as well. Includes all owners manuals, books, and original window sticker for 92,000$.

Runs and drives well, passed smog inspection less than a week ago. Engine and transmission do not leak, but power steering pump has a slow/moderate leak. All 4 tires are matching michelins. AC is ice cold. Heat works well. Original stereo works great.

Clean California title in hand. Tags are registered non-opp so no fees are owed. Proof of current non-opp registration is in hand. Car has already been smogged with paper in hand.

Power soft top not working but includes hard top. Paint has clear coat peel. Needs some minor interior work. I have a box of spare parts, original interior rear view mirror, etc. I also have extra seat cushions in excellent condition.

Asking 5900$ obo due to the low mileage. Thanks for reading.
