Here And Back Again: 1987 Mitsubishi Jeep CJ3B

Starting in 1953, Mitsubishi produced licensed version of the CJ series Jeep in Japan for fleet use, particularly the Japanese Regional Forest Service and the National Safety Forces.  The light off-roaders were assembled in Japan all the way through 1998 before being replaced with a Mitsubishi designed upgrade to the ancient CJ.  Find this 1987 Mitsubishi Jeep CJ3B here on eBay offered for $12,000 buy-it-now or make-offer, located in Atlanta, GA with 4 days to go. Tip from Daniel.

Consumers in Japan could purchase a version of the CJ3B at Mitsubishi’s Galant Shop, and in total something around 200,000 of the little mountain goats were sold in the land of the rising sun. This short wheelbase version wears an old respray of the original color that is starting to show its age.

Power in this right hand drive classic comes from a 4RD6 2.7 liter inline 4 turbodiesel that puts out 93 horsepower and 152 ft-lbs of torque when new.  It is mated to a heavy duty 4-speed manual gearbox and Dana axles front/rear and locking hubs.  With a factory stock 47° approach and 35.5° departure angle, the CJ3B should be a great hill climber.
