Have Shifter, Will Travel: 1995 BMW 540i

In the early 1990s BMW was known for its silky smooth inline-6 engines, and it hadn’t produced a V8 in 25 years (the last BMW V8 was a 3.2 liter model first used in the 501/502 and finally in the 3200 CS model in 1965).  However, the folks in Dingolfing were never known for sitting on their behinds, so in 1992 BMW released the M60 V8 in their world beating 5-series sedan and it was a fantastic dual overhead cam beast. Find this 1995 BMW 540i offered for $5700 in Austin, TX via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.

Selling my rare BMW 540I 6 speed manual. Only 3200 were made across the world with roughly 1500 being sent to the United States. This is a beautiful V8 in great condition that is as close to stock as can be. The only upgrades done to the car have been Bilstein sport shocks and struts with HR springs. The car could use some minor TLC but runs and drives great. I took it to New Mexico from Austin and back the past two years without issue. I absolutely love the car and the times I’ve had but feel its time to move on to a M-series. This is an old BMW with a few leaks, nothing impacting the performance of the vehicle. Multiple windows need minor tlc to operate correctly. (Driver window does work) The interior is in very good condition, unreal for the age of the car. If you have any questions, please reach out.
