Green And Lean: 1975 Ford Maverick

We get a lot of cars coming across DT’s tips desk and while we always feature things that we think are interesting to our dear readers, occasionally we find a car that we, or more accurately I, would like to buy. Not only is this car temptingly near to DT’s humble office…errr…garage…but it is within the typical budget of junkers that I like to buy and drive for a few years before turning over to the next guy. Man. I wish I had plunked down some cash instead of sharing this car with y’all. Find this 1975 Ford Maverick offered for $4750 in Redondo Beach, CA via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

This car is begging for a 5.0 and 5 speed swap from a Mustang GT.
It’s front seat upholstery away from something that would be fun to cruise as is if you want a non project vintage car – although Rocco’s idea of a drivetrain swap would be entertaining too.
Seriously? A Ford Maverick?
I’m amazed how well the Maverick styling has aged especially compared to its stablemates- yes, looking at you 1975 Mustang II. I think it was based on the Falcon? so the suspension and drivetrain can easily be upgraded with 60s Mustang speed parts.
