Get Hiroshima on the Blower: 1990 Blown Mazda Miata

The Mazda Miata has a reputation as a hairdresser’s car, mainly among those who have either never driven one or have some sort of image projection issues.  This unfair characterization has lead to some interesting compensation techniques.  Here’s one that probably has some tie-back to an early 80’s Mel Gibson film about a dystopian future.  Find this 1990 Monster Mazda Miata for sale in Fallbrook, CA for $18,500 via craigslist.

The ad’s a little short on specifics, but the 116 hp DOHC 4 has been replaced by some sort of small block Ford topped by a Weiland 6-71 roots-type supercharger.  The supercharger is marketed by Holley to increase your horses 40 to 50% over stock, but without knowing what we are starting with, your guess is as good as mine.

The interior remains stock with the exception of a boost gauge where an eyeball vent would normally be and a cheap aftermarket stereo.  The cross hanging from the rear view is probably a pretty good idea too.

Here’s the seller’s terse ad:

Monster Miata

1990 Miata

Small block ford

671 blower

Aluminum heads

8 inch rear end with LSF

300M axles

T5 transmission

Clean interior

This thing rocks!
