Front Wheel Fun: 2009 Mini Cooper S John Cooper Works

The rebooted Mini might have lost much of its British charm, but the infusion of German sports DNA (from Mini’s new parent company BMW) was really noticeable in the John Cooper Works edition of the Mini Cooper S. With 211 horsepower and 261 ft-lbs of torque from the turbocharged 1.6 liter 4-cylinder engine the JCW version of the Cooper S is one of the more fun front-wheel-drive cars you will ever own. Find this 2009 Mini Cooper S John Cooper Works offered for $8000 in Austin, TX via craigslist. Tip from Jeff.

Selling my 2009 Cooper JCW blackout, very nice, fast and fun car to drive. Timing chain done at 98,000 miles, thermostat and housing done at 121,000, water pump and cross over pipe done 125,000. Complete stage 2 tuned by Mario Palza with Forge intercooler, Forge blowoff valve, M7 speed max flo air intake, M7 high flow intake hose kit, M7 high flow hot and cold side pipes, CNT catless down pipe, Bosch coils, NGK iridium 1 step colder plugs, M7 turbo heat shield, M7 dual oil catch can, and upgraded all speakers. Must see to appreciate, I’m firm with my pricing.

While I’m partial to the supercharger whine and nippy size of the gen 1 minis, when I used to do driving instruction with BMWCCA a couple instructors had modified gen 2s that absolutely flew. I mean giving some serious iron absolute fits. Was hard to argue with the turbo version merits. It probably feels very small and analogue by todays standards now.
