French Fried Wagon: 1986 Renault 4

Life is just too short to spend your time driving something boring like a new Honda Civic or the bus. We spend too much time focusing on convenience and reliability — and the concept of adventure is just tossed out the window like the smoldering end of a freshly smoked gauloise. Buck the trends, beat the crowds, and get yourself something interesting for your commute, like this 1986 Renault 4 offered for $6900 in Glens Falls, NY via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

This is a 1986 Renault 4. It is a unique car in many ways.
The stick shifter is mounted on the dash. The ground clearance is higher than most cars, so it does pretty well off road. It was Renault’s first mass produced “hatchback”.
The design did not change over the entire production period of this car so it’s a relatively new classic car that looks like it’s from the 60s.

It has a canvas roof that can be removed to make a full sunroof over the cab. There is no rust anywhere and the paint is in excellent shape.
The price for this one is $6,900

Powered by some limoncello
Rumor has it that this was the inspiration for the Ram PROMASTER
When they were launched in France, Renault left a bunch of them on the streets with the keys in them. Only requirement was that you gas it up for the next guy after use. All were returned.
Freedom wagon.
Why are the headlights broken out/removed???
I thought the same thing until I looked at the CL posting and saw Image 9 which shows they're very flat fronted, but that first picture definitely makes it look like the driver's side head was removed.
