Estoril Over Cloth: 2003 BMW X5 4.6is E53

This next car comes as a tip from Matt V, who writes: Estoril over cloth 4.6is, best spec X5. There were a few minutes a while back when I considered a used/abused X5 M as a possible fun family car…but luckily I sobered up before making any purchases. Today’s car, however, is the 4.6-liter M62 V8, good for 342 horsepower and a 0-60mph time of 6.5 seconds — probably a less maintenance-intensive SUV, but 92% of the fun. Find this 2003 BMW X5 4.6is E53 offered for $8997 in Lynnwood, WA via a small car dealer.

When Porsche first offered a SUV I was repulsed and disappointed. That wasn’t my emotion upon seeing BMW’s entry into the segment with the X5 – and they’ve aged well.
I saw a Urus recently and wanted to heave a brick at it.
Same here. Love this body style. Drove this same color X5M a couple of years ago. Fast as hell. Loved it but the sub-20mpg and maintenance costs scared me off.
You could get the same 0-60 performance in a 2010-12 Toyota RAV-4 V6, w/ 1000x more reliability, and 1000x less stress knowing that if it does break down, parts are cheap and plentiful.
