Early Thorsday: 1968 Volvo 122S Amazon Wagon
Do you want a car that will put a smile on your face and the face of every other driver on the road around you? Don’t get a new Mazda (although those do have some grin inducing faces nowadays) but instead you should drive an old Volvo, because even if you get cut off with a moronic 4 lane change you can’t be mad at a vintage Amazon. Find this 1968 Volvo 122S Amazon Wagon offered here on eBay bidding for $5,600 reserve-not-met or buy-it-now of $7,950 located in Albuquerque, NM. Tip from Zach Z.
The Volvo Amazon (called the 120 series outside of Sweden) was the more
practical, more upright but still sexy older sibling of the P1800 sporty
car, to which it donated its engine, transmission, and suspension
options. Today the values of the 1800 series coupes and
1800ES shooting brakes have started to tick up, leaving the Amazon
behind slightly. However, these cars have a reputation for being reliable and basically good — so don’t expect them to be cheap forever.

This may be the best you can find as an original, especially for the money. If you want one with the best brakes etc. that a rare late 122 has , you should hit buy it now soon!
B20 overbored with front suspension etc. maintenance done.
It would be mine if I just hadn't bought a second home. I could sell my all original 544 , but it would be too late.
I look at this with the $8k tag and think about the one I've got in my driveway (66 220, B18, 4spd, white, natch) – good mechanical condition and interior condition but needs sheet metal / body love. Came with many of the panels to fix, but will need quality time in the shop and my wife dreams of it in BRG rather than the white, so plug in another X thousand for a decent paint job… wondering how far I'll end up behind the 8k listed here when it's all said and done.
And certainly puts a smile on my face.
