I bought a clean, old, used Mercedes once.
Once.
These are pretty much indestructible cars, i know my family tried. The automatic transmission sort of puts it into the slow car slow category however. At least with a stick you could pretend to drive the snot out of it.
Also be warned that it makes up for the lack of AC by having poor ventilation. It is a joy to drive with all the windows open though.
