The Mercedes-Benz W114 showcased another stunning example of the classic 3-box styling envisioned by renowned designer Paul Bracq. While the majority of W114s encountered are the standard 4-door sedan variant, there are also a handful that sport the more sporty 2-door coupe spec. Today’s W114 is sitting on a set of gigantic wheels that are […]
This next car gives me a warm feeling of nostalgia because I owned a similar vintage W115 way back in the day. It wasn’t nearly as nice as this next car, and it would belch black smoke if you had the audacity to ask it to drive up hills, but elegance is not for the […]
This next car comes as a tip from Dave in Tampa who wrote: I owned a 240d, a W114 chassis like this in burnt orange back in the early aughts. It was absolutely mint condition with a four speed stick. It was so slow I became convinced that speeding tickets were impossible. A few months […]
This next car needs a few things. It needs to be fixed up from a small accident that bent an A-arm and damaged the rims. It also needs the headlights wired up. It also needs some bumpers and de-stickerfication. It also needs a 6-speed manual swap. And then its to be driven and enjoyed because it would be sublime. The Mercedes-Benz W114 was yet another gorgeous 3-box styling design from famed designed Paul Bracq. Most of the W114s you find around are the basic 4-door sedan version, but a few are the sporty coupe. Can a car that hits 60mph in 15 seconds actually be sporty…sure…it is just a matter a opinion, I guess. Happy Bracq Friday! Find this 1972 Mercedes-Benz 250C offered for $9000 in Somersworth, NH. Tip from Carter.
The W114 Mercedes-Benz 240D is an abysmally slow car. I should know…because I owned/drove one back in the 1990s. It still had a sense of purpose and aristocratic provenance..but it was slower than a one legged tortoise on horse tranquilizers. It is, however, common to swap something with more power into the old chassis…but I […]
The Mercedes-Benz W114 occupies one of those weird niches in the classic car world – it’s old enough to be gazed upon fondly through the tint of nostalgia, yet not particularly revered among Euro car guys. Perhaps it’s because it’s the successor of the hipster-cool Heckflosse / Fintail sedans, but the predecessor of the granola […]
The Mercedes-Benz W114/115 chassis is the often overlooked E-class predecessor chassis that is overshadowed by the prettier W108/109 chassis. The big S-Class ancestor W108 with its fancier front end and stacked headlamps is a bargain classic, so the downmarket W114 is forced into an even more compromised market situation…bad news for “collectors” but great news […]

The classic car market is currently booming across the USA, blame the rise of the car investor (checking accounts don’t pay squat and stocks are a roller coaster…so why not invest in cars?), lazy people, or greedy people or the Venn diagram of those three groups…anyway, Canada isn’t seeing the same level of insanity (for […]
