Dale Earnhardt Limited Edition: 1992 Chevrolet Lumina Z34
The Lumina was released in 1990 as Chevrolet’s replacement for the out going midsize Celebrity sedan and Monte Carlo coupe. This new W-body Lumina shared its platform with the Buick Regal, Olds Cutlass Supreme, and Pontiac Grand Prix, but only the Lumina was available tarted up with NASCAR graphics from a Chevy dealer in North Carolina. Find this 1992 Chevrolet Lumina Z34 Dale Earnhardt Limited Edition #25 or 25 here on eBay
offered for $19,995 buy-it-now or make-offer, located in Beachwood, OH.
The Dale Earnhardt Limited Edition of the Chevrolet Lumina was not created by the factory, so future collector value is questionable…however, the car was created by Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet in Newton, NC, so collector value to NASCAR fans is not a question but a fact. Just don’t be intimidated by the current asking price, because other examples like this one from 2011 are in a similar range and have more miles.
With TWIN DUAL CAM V6 written on the top of the engine cover, you might wonder just how many camshafts this V6 has…me too. According to the all knowing wikipedia, the 3.1 liter LQ1 V6 used a total of four camshafts, which was many more cams than the typical domestic offering of the time. Expect the V6 to put 210 horsepower and 215 ft-lbs of torque into the front wheels (err…front wheel because this is a peg leg) via a Getrag 284 5-speed manual transaxle.
Everybody knows the real reason you drive the Lumina Z34 is because you could get it upholstered in real honest-to-goodness muppet skin interior, no synthetic fake stuff or dyed lamb wool. Just the skin from 55 real muppets, carefully selected for their fur consistency.

So..looking at the last pic, 48 months at $555 equals 26640. Convert to 2015 dollars and someone paid out $45500 !! Holy crap!! For a stickered up Lumina??? PT Barnum said it best. I love racing, but Nascar not so much. I just don't see future investment…this isn't a dealer special akin to Yenko, Harrell, Baldwin Motion, etc.
