Cream Dream: 1981 Mercedes-Benz 300CD C123

This is the C123 300CD, Mercedes’ two-door version of the famously durable W123-series sedan. The coupe used the same basic mechanicals but got a shorter wheelbase, lower roofline, frameless glass and no B-pillar, which gives it a much more elegant profile than the four-door. This one has the naturally aspirated version of the 3.0-liter OM617 inline-five diesel, not the later turbocharged engine. I purchased this from the original owner and even have the original pink slip from 1981!

Classic rare Mercedes diesel coupe in running and driving condition. Just had an oil change. This is not the turbo version.

The car starts, runs, and drives well. A/C works and even blows cool, although it can be a little finicky. It will need a new set of tires and could use some general tune-up/maintenance due to its age, but nothing major that I’m currently aware of.

Power windows and sunroof. Sunroof opens and the front windows work but the back ones only go down about halfway.
