Could Probably Start: 1985 TVR 280i

You know you’ve got your work cut out for yourself when someone writes in a craigslist advert; could probably start if I knew anything about fuel injection…Too much of a project for me. But to add insult to injury, this next car is a TVR 280i Tasmin, which sounds like it’ll never run again, but the 280i used a Ford Cologne V6 with Bosch fuel injection, so it shouldn’t be that hard to get back on the road. Find this 1985 TVR 280i offered for $1800 in Ocean Township, NJ via craigslist. Tip from Cory.

From the seller:

Exceptionally rare vintage 1985 TVR 280i. Targa roof. Six cylinder Ford engine, four-speed transmission, needs restoration. Only 485 imported back in the day. Engine turns without a problem could probably start it if I knew anything about fuel injection. Make offer. Too much of a project for me

Worst case, I’m pretty sure an Explorer 4.0 V6 would bolt in.
You’d think it would be worth more. Here are some to compare – https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/list/100/tasmin/
Pretty low, except for the one in perfect condition, even in the land where they have people who know how to fix them.
A little north of Neptune as a friend who grew up there used to say.
Gee if I were living in my other home in Brooklyn… I would have nowhere to park it.
Seems like a super deal.
Gone already
Someone stole it
TVR really lost their way from the Vixen and Tuscan. I’ve seen pics of these since new but never in profile showing how butt ugly it is. The TR7 looks svelt in comparison. And then TVR got worse.
