Clean and Ready: 1989 BMW 325i E30

BMW built an astonishing 2.5 million E30s in coupe, sedan, estate & convertible trim from 1982 through 1994. The ursprünglicher gangster BMW 3-series was a successful yuppy-mobile when new and has generated a significant cult following as a cheap, fun & reliable sports sedan. Today’s example is a 4-door sedan with the inline-6 engine and has the later restyled look (small bumpers, less chrome, restyled rear lights) and it looks in great shape. Find this 1989 BMW 325i E30 offered for $8995 in Berkeley, CA via craigslist.

This car was converted from automatic to 5 speed a few years ago when the original transmission failed. New clutch and hydraulics done at that time.
This car is in amazing mechanical condition!! Runs and drives excellent. Just went through smog and is registered through the next year.

Mighty Car Mods LS swapped an E30 last year. Ordinarily they run a number of episodes on their projects, race them at the track and continue to tweak them. But the E30 just sort of … vanished. They moved on. I wonder if it was full of redback spiders?
The arguably beautiful intake runners on this engine looks like the face hugger from Alien.
Now try to unsee it.
And gone.
Well that went fast.
Crazy ask for a 4 door slushbox convert with all the inherent engine goings on in the ad. I wonder what somebody actually forked over. We had an ’87 IS that I traded in 1995 for a new E36 convertible , Gas went to a buck a gallon! and I wanted a 4 cylinder. What a moron! On the other hand a cheap moron as I am still driving the E36 at 371 K miles though I put a Canadian E36 engine in it at 366 K when it sucked a …some…valves. The E30 IS’s are in the stratosphere price wise.
