Blue Plate E24: 1983 BMW 633CSi
The E24 generation BMW 6 Series was a grand luxury tourer sold from 1976 through 1989. Its shapely shark style curves were penned by legendary designer Paul Bracq and prices have been reasonable for years. This next one is really cheap, but it needs a cosmetic refresh — which could be fun and rewarding. Find this 1983 BMW 633CSi offered for $2000 in SF Bay Area, CA via craigslist.

Selling one of my 6ers. I found this car in a barn while scouting for cars and ended up buying it. It turned out to be a really well rounded car, with the only downside being cosmetics. Over the past few months, I’ve been working to get this car running well, but I don’t have enough room to store it. Has a straight 6cyl with a 5 speed manual. Transmission shifts smooth and the linkage is more crisp than my other car. As of right now, all the car needs is a battery and a catalytic converter to run healthy. It could also use a new idle control valve if you want it running in peak condition. Mechanically, this car is better than my other e24 that I restored. Sunroof works, butter smooth idle, ect ect. No dry rot on the tires, and the interior is in pretty good condition except for the driver’s seat. I have records dating back to the first owner that bought the car in ’83, who owned it up until 2015. Odometer is at a little over 205k. The color is “Burgondrot” which had a limited run with BMW so this color is pretty rare. Car is on non-OP with no back fees. *The orange one is not for sale!!*

I would be curious about what, if any, parts he salvaged out of this vehicle to make his Orange car nicer. Seems like that would have been a reasonable motivation to get one that isn't as nice as the one he already had.
Could be something relatively small and minor, or could have been that he swapped out the transmissions, or some other major component.
@Hunsbloger – Good point! I did not immediately think of that, but it would make a lot of sense in the whole context.
Otherwise, could be a very nice deal for someone. These pretty much all rusted away up here, except for the few that were set aside to be preserved.
Someone needs to make an affordable euro bumper conversion. My M6 had the tug boat bumpers. Basically ruins the whole car : )
Hmm looks pretty good but needs paint?

Seller says the paint is rare but it looks pretty over cooked to me
"rot" means red in German.
But I think the paint on this one is just "rot" (in English).
