Big and Round: 1995 Buick Riviera Coupe

This 8th generation Buick Riviera was the launch vehicle for GM’s new G-body platform (GMX690), which was based on Cadillac’s K-body architecture and lasted until 2011 when it was superseded by the Eurocentric GM Epsilon platform. The William L Porter designed coupe marked the end of an era for GM’s big luxury 2-doors and is unusual to see on the road today. I think they are in hiberation, waiting to become collectable. I think it needs more time in the barn. Find this 1995 Buick Riviera Coupe offered for $4000 in Tucson, AZ via craigslist.

3.8 Supercharged V6. Collectible Riviera. Platinum Gold Metallic. Rare Moonroof Option. Brand new battery. Newer Tires. Fully Loaded. Nice looking Car. Its a beautiful and becoming more rare collectible car as Buick stopped making Rivieras in 1999. And there are several collector clubs devoted to them. One of the screws is loose on the steering column so there is alot of play in the steering wheel but it is driveable. It will cost a few hundred dollars to fix it so whoever buys it will have to get that fixed. The ac and stereo work intermittently not sure why. There are very few Rivieras for sale around the country and they are selling for between 8k and 19 k currently. So this is a great deal. No offers below $4000 will be accepted. Priced appropriately for the current market and its condition. Bring your best offer.

So, maybe a thousand bucks to fix the steering wheel and a get the A/C & beats sorted? And then it’s worth $8k? Wonder why they didn’t make that investment themselves……
Quite the bargain (probably), but if I must have a Buick (must I?), I’d rather spend $900 more and pick up that ’92 GS coupe appearing here the other day. The Riviera has umm… unique styling, but I can’t get myself to love it. I don’t really want to drive something that most observers will find ugly. The ride and powertrain of the Rivi might sway me though.
”They’re big and round
They’re all around
They’re big and round
They’re all around”
I’m old enough to remember folk music with explicit lyrics.
Big and round in Buicks, not so much.
