If there is ever going to be a collectible Civic, then it is probably going to be the CVCC version, which stood for Compound Vortex Controlled Combustion, which was simply an inexpensive way to achieve stratified charge combustion. Today’s example is NOT a CVCC, it has the regular 1.2 liter Honda E-series 4-banger, but that might be a good thing because it is a very simple engine without all the strange things happening in the fancy 1.5 liter CVCC. You don’t get a tachometer or a three spoke steering wheel, but you do get to drive in the snow. Find this 1978 Honda Civic bidding for $5,420 in Spokane, WA via eBay with 1 day to go.
From the seller:
1978 Honda Civic Hatchback 1.2 L engine. First generation Honda Civic, very rare and classic car, in great condition for its age. The paint and stripes are original. The paint is in very good condition, with the exception of the hatch door and the roof, they could be repainted, 10 feet away though the paint looks fantastic. The interior is also original, tan vinyl seats. All vinyl is in near perfect condition except for the drivers seat that will need repair. The dash is in incredible shape as well as the wood veneer, no cracking that we have noticed. The carpet could use a wash but we just didn’t want to risk washing over the winter as its quite cold and we don’t think it will dry properly. This Honda civic runs great, we cold started it this morning (10 degree F) and it turned over no problem. Brand new battery, had brand new all season tires installed as well as brand new front and back brakes. She is definitely a head turner and a conversation starter. She’s so much fun to drive and we hope she can find a new home with that vintage enthusiast! I have detailed videos showcasing the interior, exterior, motor and in running motion. Please text me and I can forward those to you. 509-714-3828. Thank you for your time, please reach out with any questions and happy bidding!

**** TYPO in title. This is a 1.2L NOT a 1.5L. This is described correctly in the description as a 1.2L.

**** Just to clarify, this car is never driven on snow, except to photograph for sale. It is usually in a nice covered home :). Also the new all season tires were not purchased as snow tires, they were the only ones available in this size 13″. But personally that’s what i would have chosen for the car either way.
