From eBay:
HISTORY:
I purchased this
Amazon in Kingman, AZ after it had been setting for approx 30 years.
The then owner told me it was being driven back to Berkley, CA from
somewhere in the Midwest by its original owner, a Berkley college
professor when the Volvo failed. The wagon had zero compression in the
#3 and #4 cylinders due to holes in the top of the pistons. The
California plate was the old black with yellow letters/numbers and was
last registered in CA in 1982.
Now, it is a mechanically sound and very strong running wagon
with a new M41 tranny with J-type overdrive. Both tranny and
new B18 motor have less than 3000 miles on them. Wagon has been in CA and AZ its entire life,
so there is no rust. Paint is original
light avocado with perfect sections of patina.
Interior has been completely redone, including German square weave
carpet, headliner/windlace, door panels, etc… Has updated stereo with USB port,
water temp guage, 12volt outlet….dash has not been cut. Everything works on this wagon, and I have
driven this car on several road trips over 800 miles, without any issues whatsoever. I would not hesitate to drive this Volvo
anywhere. Also comes with very rare NOS
roofrack. Has only run with premium
unleaded and Castrol 20w50 with zinc-max additive.
I
have all of the documentation/receipts for all of this work and will
forward contact info on the Volvo master-tech who completed this great
wagon.

Nice car, wish it had A/C.
I… am undecided on the two-tone pleather.
Really solid looking car. We NEVER see stuff like this up in the snow belt (sigh…) Personally I like the upholstery. Nicely done, adds a bit of splash, and is period correct, if not manufacturer correct.
What is that curved strap behind the read coil spring? Is it some sort of helper leaf spring for extra loads?
"rear coil spring", not "read".
Travel stop.
