Always Bet On Black: 1990 Saab 900 Turbo

The Saab 900 Classic, built through 1994, was the final evolution of Saab’s wacky backwards-engine compact luxury cruiser that started way back in 1968 with the release of the Saab 99.  Don’t be fooled by the later GM rebadged Opel/Vauxhall/Saturn abomination that later used the 900 badge — because there was only one real Saab 900.  Find this 1990 Saab 900 Turbo offered for $3,850 in Anchorage, AK via craigslist. Tip from Zach.

For less than the price of a 10 year old Honda, you get an iconic car with a 5-speed manual gearbox and just over 100k on the odometer.   Expect to be pleasantly pushed back in your seat with the thrust of a small turbocharger as it unleashes 160 horsepower from the 2.0 liter 16-valve inline-4 that is mounted at a jaunty angle longitudinally (and backwards) under the hood.
