Almost Mostly Good: 2006 Mercedes-Benz C55 AMG

Mercedes-Benz launched their line of AMG street cars in the 1990s as competition to BMW’s M-cars, and they were decent handling sedans with good power.  But in a few years AMG had established itself as the madmen of the luxury sport sedan market and traded handling for tire shredding horsepower.  This next car represents the last of AMG’s cars where you could mash the loud pedal without all hell breaking loose…sort of.  Find this 2006 Mercedes-Benz C55 AMG offered for $7000 in New York, NY via craigslist. 2006 C55 AMG.

One of 451.

Everything you have heard about these cars is true.

No turbos, superchargers, or air suspension to worry about.

Reliable and simple 5.5 liter V8, strong under-stressed 5G-Tronic AMG Speedshift transmission, this car exemplifies “big motor in a small car” fun.

362hp/376tq

3500lbs

Smaller size with four doors, a large trunk, fold down rear seats, and all manner of luxury items makes commuting or long road trips a breeze.

Am only selling because, try as I may, our new poodle and her large crate just do not fit in the car.

I cannot make that up.

Everything works. All electronics, including 3-way heated seats, A/C, heat, NAV, power seats, power windows, sunroof, great stereo, even the cupholder. Even the rear power sunshade works.

Replaced valve cover gaskets, oil cooler gaskets, and all rubber breather hoses. The engine is leak-free now. I have receipts.

No mechanical issues. Starts, idles, shifts fine, no slips, noises, or any weirdness. No CEL. Completely stock.

No wheel well rust. The only corrosion is some bubbling on bottom edge of drivers’ door.

Four brand new premium all-weather Nokian WRG3 tires this past December. Brakes and rotors within past year. Nothing else needed.

Adult owned.

Always garaged.

Rare all-options C55.

It has been SUPER reliable.

Travelled to Ohio, Vermont, Chicago, Indiana, North Carolina, etc., with my wife.

It gets 24.3 mpg at 77mph on the highway. Uses a quart every 1200 miles, completely within factory manual specs.

Best price on a mechanically solid and beautiful C55 AMG you’ll find.
