98 Mitsubishi Pajero vs 88 Montero

This next duel comes from TeleArrow who writes: I spent some of my teenage days driving too fast on the network of dirt roads our farm was on. Luckily no one got hurt. Now I dream of having someone rally-ish to drive responsibly. I find these two options tempting. I like the Pajero because I wouldn’t want to do anything to it, but it seems overpriced. The Montero is also overpriced but you might come out ahead. Seems like a worthy dilemma for DT. Find this 1998 Mitsubishi Pajero offered for $23,000 in South Londonderry, VT and this 1988 Mitsubishi Montero offered for $7,800 in Marshfield, VT via craigslist.

Someone has ‘tarted up’ a 98 Pajero and trying to capitalize off the Pajero Evolution’s popularity and hoping for an increase over current values. Granted the 3.5 GDI or direct injection motor does provide slightly more power than the USDM 3.5 motors but it isn’t the Mivec.
Whoops and it doesn’t share the same suspension of the Evolution.
