6-Speed Daily: 2011 Volkswagen GTI

Let’s imagine a world where you need a daily driver. Something that is modern enough to have airbags and be safe enough that your family won’t think you are insane…but it still needs to be fun. Oh, and practical. And seat 5 people. What if I told you that you could have all of this in one car AND it comes with a bitchin set of 5-spoke wheels. Find this 2011 Volkswagen GTI offered for $8,800 in Santa Clara, CA via craigslist.

Not seeing the collages. Are we talking Braque, Cornell or Python?
Georges Braque and Joseph Cornell , love their work and both were and are big influences. But Python? Googled Python collages, and what a delightful rabbit hole. Added another thing to try on that very long list.
Come to think of it stable diffusion is mostly python and I’m sort of doing collage with that, but we really need to talk about those.
Isn’t there a song about blue plaid seats?
“You can have anything you want to eat, but don’t get wing sauce on my blue plaid seats.”
Yeah, that’s it, who sang that?
Don’t know which messes with your mind the most, art school or programming.
You have misoverestimated my Python reference, which couldashoulda namechecked “Gilliam”, but rabbitholes abound!
…and the foot of Cupid comes crashing down…
Sadly, when your 66 (today), 2011 was only two years ago. You’ll get there too but think of the values in the meantime. 👍
Happy birthday! You look mahvelous.
Ha, got there last year. Welcome to the two thirds of a centenarian club. Well, not really until July or so but 2011 still seems like newish car to me too.
Remember the Volvo ad campaign “Nine out of every 10 [Volvos] registered here [i.e., in Sweden] in the last 11 years are still on the road.” and that seemed like some sort of big deal? Now anything from this century seems newish.
And happy birthday 🎂
Nice car, but I’m not a fan of those wheels and the thin rubber strips wrapped around them. Actually takes a little bit away from the “everyday” aspect of this car, imho.
