Long Price: 1984 Nissan 720 Pickup Truck

Yowza, that’s all the money PLUS some for an 80s Nissan Pickup. The 720 Truck was produced for the USA market from 1980 through 1986 and most have been driven into the ground…but this thing is clean. But is it clean enough to warrant a price you’d have paid for a real classic car a few years ago? And this isn’t a BushMaster. I’m torn. Part of me says “heck no, crack pipe price” and another part says “find another one in this condition…”. What do you think? Find this 1984 Nissan 720 Truck or Pickup offered for $16,000 in Portland, OR via craigslist.

I drove an ’84 720 for a good eight years, put 100,000 miles on it with no issues. It was MUCH plainer than this one, with vinyl seats and floors, no console, etc. No “wood” trim, that’s for sure, that’s for dang sure! Pretty sure a/c was the only option on it (purchased used). So, I have a soft spot for these. But $16k, even in this condition, no.
I looked at a Mazda pickup extra cab of this vintage and was perplexed by the same weird contraption on the carburetor as this one. Seriously, coolant lines that run through the carb? That was an awkward time for emissions equipment, just ask Murilee Martin:

This is both “find another one” and “crack pipe”. You’re not going to find another, but you’re on crack if you pay this price. Same as with that silly special edition Samurai the other day. I think the sellers are both delusional. Rarity doesn’t always equal value.
SO cool!!!
