5k: Spare Parts: 1972 BMW Bavaria
There is an old saying amongst car guys that you should never pick up another man’s project — but sometimes you need to ignore those old sayings and take a risk you want to get a good deal. The BMW E3, aka New Six, was a sedan chassis built from 1968 through 1977 and technically the predecessor of the 7 Series. Today prices are still reasonable when compared with similar classic BMW models. Find this 1972 BMW Bavaria offered for $3,000 in San Diego, CA via craigslist. Update: Well, that didn’t last. The Bavaria’s seller has deleted the listing.
A $3000 BMW Bavaria basketcase would not be an unusual find, expect that this one comes from a seller who has started a driving restoration project but given up for some reason. The car includes a set of new tires and a pile of used/new parts.

Sold already. Dang that was fast. Who bought it? Fess up…
I didn't buy it, or see it. I have persistent E3 fantasies which I know I will never realize.
I sort of doubt this guy is getting $8500 for his car, and I wouldn't be surprised if your $ into the $3k car to make it right would be pretty substantial. I guess if engine, transmission, suspension and brakes are good, a little rust never hurt anybody.
