5k: Groovy: 1971 Datsun 240Z, Ugly Duckling
Occasionally a Hollywood film comes out that is grotesque in its form, but somehow brilliant and surprisingly profitable. Evil Dead II (1987) is a great example, a budget horror film written/directed by Sam Raimi before he hit the big time with 8 figure budgets and Toby McGuire in tights. The movie stars a young Bruce Campbell battling the undead with a shotgun in one hand and chainsaw as his other hand…anyway, it is gruesome and awesome in one 16:9 frame and grossed almost double its production cost. Today’s feature car is similar in its ugly duckling looks, but excellent potential if you just lower your standards and squint your eyes a bit. Find this 1971 Datsun 240Z for sale in Hollywood, CA for $5,500 via craigslist.
The 240Z is powered by the L24, a 2.4 liter cast-iron SOHC inline-6
putting out a respectable 151 horsepower and 146 ft-lbs of torque. The
result was decent performance in 1971, 0-60mph around 8
seconds, but more importantly the Z had excellent weight distribution
and an athletic demeanor.

Owner says it needs to have the brakes bled to make it a daily driver. Is that a big project? Doesn't strike me as a big deal. Wonder why he wouldn't do that before selling.
Seems like he's done all the hardwork. And, the rest is paint and interior restoration.
I think it's uber cool in the state it's in right now, save the seats, provided the mechanicals check out.
If this was on closer to me , I'd be all over it. And then I'd drive it just like it is — maybe clear coat the body to further delay rusting down here in FLA. LOL
