5k Flash: 1969 BMW 2002 Creamsicle Dream- Cheap!

There are a couple of rules for getting top dollar for your crappy car on ebay – first is to make sure that people are available/awake when the auction closes and second is to be positive about the car.  The seller of this 1969 BMW 2002 breaks these rules and the car is going to sell for a bargain in a few hours (the middle of the night), car located in Washington D.C., and currently bidding at $2,750 with 9 hrs to go.

 The seller starts off by describing the car as “originally red but has been repainted funny orange color” – while this description may be accurate, a better way to put it would be:  “If you love orange – this is the car for you!”  The paint is described as ‘just so-so and needs to be redone’, wow, a the rare sound of honesty on ebay…we like this seller.

Engine bay shots shows the original red peaking through some a poorly done black paint job – ok, so maybe now we understand why the seller is willing to let go of it for cheap.  The 2.0 liter inline 4 cylinder engine puts out 108 horsepower and is claimed to be in decent shape – no oil smoke etc.

The interior is described as “ redone and is okay but not 100% correct. All gauges are original and work real well.”  Why someone would have spent the time to do all this custom interior, custom paint and not painted the door jambs is just bizarre – because red and orange clash really badly or so I’ve heard.

It will be interesting to see where this one ends up when the auction closes – perhaps some early morning east coaster will see the low price when he wakes up and get a smokin deal – or perhaps the paint really is that ghastly in person and this car needs a complete redo.
