5k: Fiervette from Mecca: 1987 Pontiac Fiero GT, LS1 V8

Everyone knows some Fiero owner who has put the saw to a Camaro or
Corvette to harvest its engine. Few have gained the positive reputation
of Illinois-based V8 Archie,
which is where this Montana seller took his rolling doorstop for an LS1
swap. Find this 1987 Pontiac Fiero GT with V8 Archie swap currently bidding for $4,550 reserve not met in Bigfork, Montana (which could be the name of a family-style restaurant in the Midwest) with 4 days to go.  Words and tip from DT commenter & contributor  slowcarSLOW-MPGlol.

Prominence is a price factor common in classic car
auctions, but rarely discussed in Fiero circles. After driving or
shipping his Fiero 1,500 miles to Fiero Mecca, the owner gave V8 Archie a
shout-out to boost the car’s prominence – and corresponding price.

The seller splurged on performance parts but
fortunately skimped on the appearance. Factory GT bumpers give the car a
modern look. The interior looks good for its age too, besides the
ubiquitous Pro-Comp gauges.

The LS1 hooks up to the stock Getrag 5-speed, which
Archie himself says has been tested in 460 horsepower applications with
no problems, although “any motor vehicle can fail if subject to severe
and constant abuse.” We can’t think of a better way to enjoy this V8
Fiero.
