5-Speed Manual Box: 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is a common sight on suburban roads today and was certainly more prevalent back in the 1990s before the Japanese introduced us to SUVs that were fuel efficient and reliable…but I digress.  With the death of the Grand Wagoneer after the 1991 model year, the Grand Cherokee was the top dog in Jeep’s domestic lineup and most were sold with automatic gearboxes for regular folks, but a few hundred (over almost 20 years of production) left the factory with a manual box..and here is one.  Find this 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee offered for $4,500 in Albuquerque, NM via craigslist. Looking for a capable off road vehicle with a bullet proof, torque producing motor, huge aftermarket, massive parts availability, the comfort of coil springs all around, 4 doors without being overly large, decent gas milage, and the control and reliability of a manual transmission? Well, this is it.

This factory 5 speed grand Cherokee is very rare. Especially without rust. Hagerty estimates only about 400 of these were made.

The legendary 4.0 straight six puts out a ton of toque down low. The valve cover is leaky, but this engine is strong. Has a belt squeak that quiets as it gets warm. City mpg is 16-18 and highway is 21-24mpg

The ax15 transmission shifts smoothly every time.

The np231 transfer case has the capability of 4low which paired with the manual trans provides a massive amount of torque when you need it.

3″ lift and 31 inch tires get you an excellent viewpoint and clearance to get you where you need to go without robbing you of torque or mileage.

New headlight and front turn signal housing keep things bright and safe.

Gas skid tank for when things get hairy

Small dent on front fender and light New Mexico pinstripe on the paint.

Front suspension was redone ~2000 miles ago with Bilstein shocks, upgraded track bar, and swaybar disconnects. 4 wheel alignment as well. Diff fluids done very recently.

Interior light have been replaced with LEDs.

800w RMS sub and amp with 4g power wire and the big 3 upgrades done. Handsfree Bluetooth, Alpine 4 channel amp, kicker KS series speakers and dynamat keep the tunes sounding clear and powerful.

All power accessories/electronics work including the vehicle information center, with the exception of the cruise sometimes disengaging and the fuel gauge usually not working (I keep track of miles) AC is cold, heater is hot.

Theft deterrent by nature of a manual, along with viper alarm and other anti theft devices.

Bed/storage setup is excellent for camping and daily driving.

Comes with slip yoke eliminator and quality aftermarket header that has not been installed yet.
