2k: Quattrollin’ Again: 1993 Audi 90 Quattro

This Audi 80 was the predecessor to the A4 and grew up sharing a platform with the Volkswagen Fox/Passat.  While they don’t quite have the following of something like the Audi Quattro Coupe, they are starting to come into their own as a cool vintage 90s Euro styled cruiser available with a 5-spd trans and all-wheel-drive.  Find this 1993 Audi 90 Quattro for sale in SF Bay Area, CA offered for $1800 via craigslist.  Thanks to tip from Jeffrey L.

We had a hard time trying to decide if this Audi was the small Fox based B4 platform Audi 80/90 or the ever-so-slightly larger C4 platform Audi 100.  The seller only lists it as an Audi Quattro and the 80/100 line share similar styling cues, and this one has what looks like lo-fogs from a 100, but the trunk lip of an 80…so we had to do some sluething and in the process figured out that the seller is using the kelleybluebook stock photo of a 1994 Audi 90 for his main image.  Case closed!

Confusing us further was the fact that the Audi 80/90/100 could all be had with the 2.8 liter SOHC V6  putting out 172 horsepower.

Thankfully this Audi (whichever model) is equipped with the 5-speed manual transmission putting power to all four wheels via Audi’s permanent quattro all-wheel-drive system.  The interior on this undisclosed mileage luxury sedan actually looks decent in the photos..we hope these aren’t also pulled from KBB.

The final picture in the sellers listing shows what must be the actual car and it doesn’t look half bad for the asking price.  For someone in the market for a cheap entry price and high maintenance cost European sedan, you could do worse.
