25 of 50: Megan: 1993 GMC Typhoon
The GMC Typhoon was a high performance version of the GMC Jimmy compact SUV, sold only from 1992-1993 as an experiment in fast but tippy autos. Fast it was; with 280 horsepower and all wheel drive it had acceleration similar to a Ferrari 348, Chevy Corvette and Mistu 3000GT VR-4. Today the Typhoon is a oddity and finding a good clean example is difficult…so we found one covered in bed liner instead. At least you don’t need to worry about door-dings. Find this 1993 GMC Typhoon for sale in Carterville, IL for $6,200 on ebay with zero bids and a few hours to go.
In the two years of production, GMC produced less than 5,000 of the nutter-SUVs, so prices should appreciate in the next decade or two. This one at $6k is certainly affordable, but who knows what the bed-liner paint is hiding.

~ at $6200 this Typhoon is starting below the cost of building a V8 Blazer or Jimmy, and doing it right, plus it may be collectible someday if it isn't too beat up beneath the Rhino-hide.
~ very few special parts, easy to restore.
