1944 Chevrolet Express Pickup

Even though the American automakers were producing war materials all out in the early ’40s, some civilian industrial vehicles were produced later in the war. Find this 1944 Chevrolet Express Pickup for sale on Hemmings in Ottertail, MN for $11,500.  This post is part of DT’s 2016 Birthday Celebration of 100 cars; enjoy the ride!

From what I’m able to piece together, this is a 216 cubic inch inline 6 – with period correct war era grease and dirt.

Inside could use a little work; maybe you can get a seat cover at Pep Boys to spruce things up.

It’s hard to determine if this is a real war era or a post war truck.  The bumper and grill are painted instead of chrome, since chromium was needed in the war effort.  But you can see chrome headlight rings and the door handles appear chrome as well.  You will need to do your homework…
