15k Flash: Black SNake-95; 1997 Ford Mustang Cobra SN-95 Shelby

The 4th generation Mustang, aka SN-95, was a continuation of the Mustang Fox chassis but with smoother styling and some new tricks under the hood.  Particularly impressive was the Mustang Cobra, bringing serious 300+ horsepower performance back to the original Pony car for the first time since they stopped building the 429 Cobra Jet in 1971.  This 1997 Ford Mustang Cobra is for sale in San Pedro, CA for $13,900 via craigslist.

This Cobra looks nice – and it should since the odometer only has 59k miles on it.

The 1997 Cobra was powered by the 4.6 liter modular V8 in four valve per cylinder configuration, putting out 305 horsepower and 300 ft-lbs of torque. The block was aluminum and actually cast in Italy so this Cobra has some Torino in its DNA. The same basic engine has its roots in giant Lincoln luxury boats from the early ’90s and was carried on to the ’03 “Terminator” Cobra, albeit with an iron block and supercharger in that later 390 hp form.

Moving on to the interior, we see more glove box graffiti from Mr. Shelby himself.

Today the SN-95 Mustang is a good buy in the market place because it has fully depreciated and nice examples should start to maintain value or appreciate similar to the Fox body market from a few years ago.
